How does laser bird deterrent work

July 18, 2022 View:

Laser bird deterrent is a very popular bird control method in the United States, Australia and other markets in recent years. Because of its higher efficiency than other methods, the customer base and market size have continued to grow. So how does the laser bird repellent work? Will it harm the birds?

First, let's take a look at the eye constructure of birds.

The eyes of birds are on the sides of the head and have a wider field of vision. Some birds have a field of vision width of 270 degrees, and even 360 degrees without dead ends.

Birds' vision is generally divided into three types.

The first type: the overlapping field of view of the eyes is 20-30 degrees, and the blind spot is 40-100 degrees. These birds mostly use visual methods to forage, such as pigeons, starlings, and egrets;

The second type: the overlapping field of vision and the blind spot of the eyes are less than 10 degrees, which are more common in birds that use touch or filter feeding methods, such as ducks, sandpipers and other birds;

The third type: the overlapping field of vision of the eyes is greater than 50 degrees, and the blind spot is greater than 160 degrees. It is more common in owl-shaped birds. The head of owl-shaped birds can be rotated 270 degrees to compensate for the narrow field of view.

Birds of the first and second types of vision, such as pigeons, crows, Canada geese, etc., usually have an impact on human life or production. Their vision is very sensitive, and the minimum blind spot can reach 10°, so the use of visual drive Birds are very effective on this type of birds.

Secondly, let's take a look at the principle of laser bird repellent. The study found that under the same power conditions, green light is the brightest for both birds and humans, and birds are extremely sensitive to 520~532nm green lasers. Therefore, the laser bird repeller uses a 532nm green laser, which will have a strong and effective deterrent effect on birds when working in the active area of birds. However, because the laser power is small, it will not cause physical harm to the birds.

At the same time, the laser bird repellent can work without consumables, 100% friendly to the environment, and can be applied to many different bird control applications. At present, there are two models of hand-held bird repellent and automatic bird repellent. For places that require flexible operation and manual inspections, hand-held bird repellents are very suitable. In large open unmanned areas, automatic bird repellers are a better choice.
